Pillow For Upper Back Pain

What is an Adjustable Pillow?

There is not one pillow that is right for everyone. It is important to find the right pillow for you. If you do not have the right pillow, your neck could be at an uncomfortable angle. You do not want a pillow that is too thin or too thick. Either one leads to an uncomfortable morning with a stiff neck and aching back. Pillows are made with different lofts to be used depending on your sleep position. If you sleep on your side, you need a thicker pillow with a higher loft. If you sleep on your stomach, you need a thinner pillow with a lower loft.

With an adjustable pillow, you can add fill to the pillow to make it thicker or thinner and specific to your individual needs. An adjustable pillow comes with a case that can be unzipped to allow you to add or remove material from the pillow. There are a few different types of adjustable pillow for upper back pain. Some of these pillows are called layer pillows that have thin pillows stacked on top of each other in a casing. You can add or remove the layers to make the loft of the pillow fit your sleep style. These are typically filled with cotton, polyester, or rayon. Some of these pillows tend to flatten while you sleep and require you to fluff them back to the thickness you desire. The layers do not allow much air flow and may make you hot while you sleep.

A buckwheat pillow can also be an adjustable pillow. They are all natural, cool, and breathable. The hulls of buckwheat allow air to circulate to keep you cool all night. These pillows support and conform to the shape of your neck and head. It may take some time for you to get used to a buckwheat pillow. Bamboo pillows are also adjustable. They tend to be fluffy but they do not all contain 100 percent bamboo. Some also contain memory foam.
